Maybe it’s because you’ve bought into some cultural values that tell you that you’re supposed to have a sense of direction, that you’re supposed to have kids, that you’re supposed to be in a relationship?

What if you didn’t buy into those values? Then, how would you be?

Maybe you would enjoy just being, not running around chasing after shadows like most people do? Maybe you would appreciate the freedom as well as the unique growth opportunities that are available to you as someone without a child? Maybe you would come to relish being single and all the struggles and joys that come with that?

And then maybe, you would begin to develop trust in yourself and in life itself, that all good things will come to you in their own time? And in that development of trust, you would also come to know genuine peace as well as patience?

And maybe you would also come to understand that there are millions of people on this planet who don’t have a relationship, children, or a sense of genuine direction, and maybe you’d have compassion for them as well, not because those are bad in and of themselves, but because they too have bought into values that tell them that they’re somehow doing it wrong. And maybe your heart would burst open with love for them as well as for yourself?

And maybe you would come to see that that love is what this whole thing is about, that you don’t need a relationship, a child, or direction to experience genuine love and compassion? And most likely, when you realize that, you’ll find yourself surrounded by people you truly love, possibly, including a love and a child, and maybe you’d know then your true direction in this life?
